Ok so the person who owned my 1999.5 VW Golf 2.0L bottomed it out and put a scape in the oil pan. I wanted to know where to find the right oil pan and for how much. Also if it's as easy as it looks to install I mean I do a lot of my own general stuff so I want to do it myself.

getting at the 2 bolts between the block and the tranny is very tricky. You need a 1/4 extension and swivel. They are even harder to get back in.

But where and which pan is the best to get and I also heard from the another site that it isn't very hard at all

It's not so much hard as it is frustrating. As to where to buy them I don't know

Pretty sure part4vws.com, or maybe germanautoparts.com should have them. It's pretty easy, I didn't even need a swivel on my 2.0.

Thanks, I found the oil pan from germanautoparts.com and since I live in PA I already got it so I'm putting it in this weekend. I'll keep you posted but I did read that the pan was made in Brazil and my car was made in Germany not Brazil will the pan still work?

Ok the oil pan install is complete and it was really easy but I did have to use a swivel head and I was actually able to fit that Brazilian pan on my German made VW

The brazilian and german parts are the same. Nothing changes. It's always nice to have new parts on the engine, but as far as the oil pan goes, if there was a nasty scrape in it, it is not a big deal as long as it does not leak. The oil pan is constructed of heavy thick steel, and as long as there is no interference with the moving parts I would not have worried about it... But if the dent/scrape was VERY bad, it was probably a good idea to swap it out.
Did you have any trouble with the windage tray? It was a HUGE pain the ass to get the oil pan past the windage tray in my 94 jetta.

No I didn't have any problems it was pretty easy. Yea and the crack did leak a little so I figured replace it and the pan I got is amazing its the upgraded hybrid one like you were saying.
