Tonight I purchased a car I have wanted for a while. A 1990 corrado, unfortunately it is a g60, but I still have the 2.0t from my jetta so we'll see what motor it ends up with this summer. For the winter I will be driving it as is. I am going to pick it up this saturday.

Why is it that we never get any cars like that here in South Africa???

Why is it that we never get any cars like that here in South Africa???

Probably for the same reason that we don't get the caddy or rabbit anymore

Nice looking car, is the hood CF or just painted?

Are G60s DIGI 1?

What happened to your new jetta?

Hood is carbon fiber, I am 99% sure g60's are digifant 1, and the jetta is fine, but they are starting to salt the roads more often now and I don't want to drive it in salt or snow. I know 3000 is a bit much for a winter car, but I am planning on some down time in the jetta when I get new internals and whatnot. I need something to keep me happy during that. :)

All G-60's are digifant 1. Personally, I'd rather have a G60 than the SLC. Parts are much more readilly availible and they are a lot easier and cheaper to make fast. You should do a turbo conversion and get rid of the parasitic draw from the screw compressor.

AWESOME car man. Keep that baby shining. Also... please please please... Paint the hood the color of the car when you get it.

I had thought about putting the turbo from my 2.0 in it, but I want to put that in a mk2 or mk1 project. It also has the kompressor kanada rebuild and hop-up kit which makes me kind of want to keep the charger on. g60 parts are cheaper, but locally are not even close to as readily available. There is a local vw yard with 3 mkIII gti's just sitting with complete vr's, and no corrados at all. I have not personally seen a corrado within 100 miles of my house. I asked one of the local vw garages if they had any shells laying around and they said they only know of one corrado even in the area. The hood will be left unpainted. :) I know as a vw enthusiast I shouldn't like it, but I do, it's a guilty pleasure. I had one on my old jetta and have one on my new jetta.

I'm not saying to paint it because VW enthusiasts should, I'm saying paint it, because a black hood does not go with a silver car... It would look a lot more sleek and clean, but whatever man

Allthough it would look a lot neater with the bonnet the same colour as the car, I would leave it if it is a genuine Carbon Fibre Bonnet. These are quite pricy and it would be a sin to spray over CF. If it's allready been sprayed, I would make it the same colour as the rest of the car. But this is what makes life interesting... Different opinions.

*If everyones cars looked like mine, I would have no-one to laugh at*

Carbon fiber was originally produced as an alternative material... in this case to heavy steel. It was never meant for show. Carbon fiber should be painted so that nobody knows it's carbon fiber. I don't think carbon fiber looks good either. The only reason I would use one is to reduce some decent weight, but never for "looks". Nobody cares that you have a carbon fiber hood, seriously.

You are right though... To each his own. I have differening opinions. My opinion is let race cars be race cars and let daily drivers be daily drivers. Daily drivers should not look like race cars.

I must agree, Let race cars be race cars... The one thing I cant stand are these little brats who have full body kits, black bonnets(not CF) An exhaust that makes you want to drive of the road because it sound like and plane coning in for landing etc., that stands and revs at the robots with his standard 1.4 motor.

Are they trying to look like idiots???

hmmm.. this is where my seriously crazy american mind must step in and just let everyone know that i love those kinds of people for a few reasons...

1) sadly my brother is one of those people in his 03 Hyundai Elantra Turbo (daily Driver with full body kit, 9 inches longer than stock bumpers might i add (had to actually jack the car up higher for clearance), and retarded wing)

2) I LOVE making fun of those people and so do my other 2 bro's...

3) i really want to be one of those people just so i can laugh at myself constantly, try to race with like every ford escort that i pass (and be extrememly proud when i smoke them) and just overall just to be a big pain in the ass...

just to add to that, it's sad cause like everyone around my area would then be like "WOW! Nice Car!" ...being serious, i know.. they all need to be shot along with Akon and Chris Brown.

-while we're at it, just shoot Justin Timberlake too. Cause along with the sexy, he prolly brought back some prehistoric STI's... we all know it! lol
