View Full Version : Stock Air Box Question...cause im stupid.

i was out fiddling around with my air box the other day and i took the whole ting apart and there was some stuff on there that i didnt know what it was so i decided to ask you guys.


1. what is the brown wire on the side of the box for?
2. where does the hose on the bottom of the box go to?

That brown wire is actually a vacuum line. Take the vacuum line off and plug up the holes.

The hose goes back to your exhaust manifold... It's a system that is designed to "preheat" your intake tract to help the engine warm up more quickly... The unfortunate side of this "technology" is that the engine is sucking in HOT air, and thus reducing performance. Remove the hose and take the vacuum lines off your airbox and that flap won't open up again... Then there is a "horn" looking thinggy inside your airbox... REMOVE it... It's designed to reduce the noise coming out of the intake, but it's very restrictive, and then you can hear a little more sound coming out of the engine bay under wide open throttle.

thank you for all of the help. i took off the horn thingy and my fake lights on the bumper to help improve air flow. to you know where i can get the insetrs that go in the fake lights place.
