This guy from my work wants to race on Friday after work. He's got an Audi A4 1.8T with a few mods. Not sure what besides an exhaust, heavy rims :) [thats a plus] and a chip. The chip is a generic upgrade, nothin highly tuned.

He says it's got about 215hp and 200tq and I think his car's about 3500lbs or so

I've got a 2001 GTI VR6 [12v :(], so stock, 174/181 @ 2999lbs. I only have a couple of mods - neuspeed exhaust and an injen cai. I'm not really sure where I'm at on power, but not as much as he has.

A buddy of mine thinks it's gonna be close and it'll probably come down to my launch and shifting. I've just gotta out drive him. If I can get ahead, I should be able to stay ahead as long as I keep it above 3k RPM.

I'm a little worried even though I've blown a couple of A4's away. Whatcha guys think? Is there ANYTHING I can do to help me on short notice besides takin my tools out of the back :D?

oh, and jettadude, did you get that problem fixed with your engine runnin rich? mine's doin the same, not too bad, but annoying

You could probably barely beat a stock A4, but if he's modified it I doubt you win... It'll be close, though. I raced a stock 1.8T jetta with my stock 95 gti vr6 12v... the jetta was just a little bit faster.... But.... Audi's are fat chicks... haha. You might have a chance.

Hit up a drag strip and do it right, keep the racing off the streets.

you lost to a 1.8T jetta? it must of been hookedup, i know that i pull on the 1.8T's with the ko3sport turbos. im just really raced a 1.8T jetta with intake and took him by a car, and a 1.8T passat and i pulled after 2nd gear. if you beat the hell out of the car you should win. just launch the car and keep the car pushing till you fell the power drop off then shift. don't shift at redline you have to fell the car. i know that the power in my car drops off just before 6G so if you keep revving its taking more time for less accelerteration.

8O you guys are makin me worried
a couple of days ago i started behind an A4 rolling at about 60
i was pullin on him hard and steady and passed at about 90. it looked stock and i could tell he was on it

damn! im really wonderin now

i took about 60lbs worth of stuff out of my car

i'll definitely let you guys know what happens either way when i get home tomorrow

is there anything i can clean my o2 sensor with that wont hurt it? im gettin a bad mixture; too much fuel :x

so i won :D
spanked em 6 times :) we did 3 rolling and 3 from a stop. on one of the rolling starts, i started behind him; caught up and passed at about 90.

i had em on every gear. maybe he doesnt have as much power as he said??
i was shifting at about 5800 or so and by the time i got out of 2nd, i was fully ahead and pulled away all through 3rd

i had a good day though. good launches [with the asr off], i was shiftin good and the car was runnin great.

next time i visit my parents i'm going to make a downpipe since that'll be really cheap to do. then get a chip
