Ok so my secondary air injection pump was taking a dump so i bought a 42 draft designs plug so i can delete the damn thing. it was simple for me as i have my front end off. however if i didn't i would recomend takeing it off. as it is not all that hard to do took me about an hour and i have mangeled metal to deal with but.
you need
1 6mm alen key
1 5mm alen key,
Chanell locks or big pliers,
phillps head screw driver and flat head screw driver.

now after you got that here is what to do.

First, there is a purge valve type thing that has 2 vaccum lines on it. 1 from your FPR fuel pressure regulater and 1 comming off of that to the combi valve. take that valve out and just connect a hose from the intake manifold to the FPR. then start unboling the combi valve, there is 1 5mm allen bolt that holds the combi valve into the head. undo that and pull that out. disconnect the hose that runs it from the pump. now there are 5 6mm allen bolts. 2 that hold the braket for the pump, 3 that hold the pump to the braket. now 1 of the 2 allen bolts for the braket is also one for the intake manifold so that needs to be replaced and re torqued. so take that one off first. i needed to use the channel locks to help break loose the bolts for the braket as they were on there good. now once you get that off remove the pump. now take your 42 draft design SAI plug and start threding in the bolt! now remember to save all the bolts as you need to reuse them. now the reused bolt from the combi valve start threding it back into the head. now don't push the plug in as it will go in weird and mess up the O ring. thred the bolt it and it will push the plug in all good. once that is good, put back the 2 braket bolts and torque them down.

Done

Thats it. put everything back together in your front end and your good. start er up. OH BTW this will trip your CEL and will cause you to fail emmissions if you do have them in your area. however it will stop it from leaning out and bogging down when it kicks on, no more whine at start up and about 5LB of weight saved. oh and it frees up all that space.

Soo.... What are you doing about your CEL now??? Your 96 won't pass with that CEL.

Doesnt matter who you know with OBD II... The plug your car into a computer, and it will not pass you with a CEL no matter what the CEL is on for. You can't even get an emissions cert printed off from the computer with a CEL. Only on OBD I where computers don't play a role can you get passed emissions issues. And even if your friends could pass you, they risk a 25,000 dollar fine and loosing their emissions license for life. So if they do pass you, they are idiots for putting themselves in that situation.

well in PA if it cann't get a singal from the computer then it passes automaticly if i say have a switch between the power for the OBD port then it wont read and i pass. sooo i win :)

lol... no. Your car won't pass safety or emissions. The WHOLE point behind OBD II is to prevent stuff like this from happening. No diagnostic port, no certification... I'd check the laws in PA again if you think you'll get by without that.

btw, i'm not trying to make it an argument... I'm just trying to tell you that you'll be screwed if you try something like that. Emissions laws in the USA... especially the eastern states emissions laws are very strict.

oh i kno. ive had a CEL since ive owned the car, ive passed emmission twice because of the no singel to computer. my buddy does it. yea the computer is hooked up to penndot and if it can't read it then it passes by default. oh and since its a 96 i can have i think half of the stuff not ready and it will pass.

im pretty sure if you put a resistor on the electrical circuit the has a drain as much as what the secondary air unit had. the light should go off because the computer wont know the difference

You might want to get a heavy duty resistor and add a heatsink and thermal past or you'll burn that resistor out in a few weeks. :)
