Hey guys, so when I installed my cam the other day, as I explained in another thread, they said I accidentally advanced the timing 6 degrees (1 tooth). So last night I pulled the belt off, rotated the cam sprocket clockwise one tooth, and put the belt back on. But now I'm not so sure that that's the right way to turn it. If I pull the timing belt off, which way should I have turned the sprocket to retard the timing back one notch?

So I pulled the belt back off and rotated it back two notches the other way, and it seems to be right in time. Runs very well, hope this did it.

There are timing reference marks on the sprocket and flywheel... you should line those up then buy yourself a 25 dollar timing light at harbour freight... If it runs good and has all the power you are probably fine though.

As long as your car still runs you must be fine. With your new cam you may have made your engine an interference engine. Be careful with your timing

Yea, that's what my buddy said, but then the guys at eurotech said that's not true, that it stays noninterference. not sure. Either way, it runs great, so I'm pretty sur eI got it right. Also added a GIAC chip last night, and now it's so smooth, you'd think it rolled out of the factory this way

I forget what engine he has in his rabbit, but it defintly became an interference engine
