ok well i had my 2.5" catback on with a stock vr6 cat. that has the metal screens so you can't punch it out easy short of cutting it in half. well so i had this cheap 2.5" cermanic one that i have in a pic somewhere. so its smaller so less turbulance more power+gutted. so i had to cut the bolts off cuz they were rusted on and i didn't wanna mess with them so i get the 2 lower ones off the top one i used a air hammer. so then i cut it off the pipe and un hook the o2 sensor. i pull it down and set it down and start putting the gutten one on. thanks to my buddys lift it took no time and hes got a welder so nice new beads. but so im looking at it as hes welding on the gutted cat and i look through to see nothing but ITS FREAKING GUTTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its done nice 2!. so i had a gutted cat on there. no wonder i was getting a CEL for the cat. but i only got it on highway trips. around town i don't have one. so i still don't have a cel with a gutted cat thats cool to me. but i find that stock vw cats have 2.5" in 2.1/4" out. so now i have true 2.5" all the way. i didn't notice anything but a nicer sound and the car does rev smoother and faster. but yea so thats what happend tonight working on the jetta.

well since the last post against vw and subaru. wrx people are taking spark plugs and hollowing them out and screwing them into the bung then stacking 2 of them then putting the o2 sensor in that. so its farther away and it will fool it since of the delay and the lesser reading. my buddy is trying that on his beetle.

thats essentially what this is but easier and less ghetto

ps i think they are using spark plug defoulers, not actual spark plugs
