This is a problem I had before on my Jetta where my CD Deck couldn't store any memory and I'd have to input a security code every time I turned on the car. Well, this is happening again on my new car and I'm wondering if the problem is there because there is no actual ground wire.

Will it only save memory if the ground wire goes back to the battery? Or does it not even make a difference that it's just grounded to a piece of metal inside the dash? The stereo works fine and sounds great, and my power wire is stuck in the hot side of the fuse for the radio in the fuse box, same as it was on my Jetta. So... what's going on here? Any tips?

You have to make sure that the memory wire always has power, make sure it's hooked up a wire that has power even when the car is off

I got it all figured out. I just decided to stay away from the fuses altogether and just run a fused line straight from the battery next to my amp wire. It's all good now. It's funny, though. With my Jetta I just stuck the wire into the hot side of where the fuse goes in and then jammed the fuse in there and it worked fine. I did that with the Laser and the deck powered up fine but lost memory at shutoff.

On the jetta you probably had selected constant power but on the laser you picked one with switched power. Glad you got it straightened out
