Ok i'm a total newbie here getting his first car. Its a 87 Jetta and i was just wondering what kind of engines i could eventually get for it. I heard somewhere that you could get a skyline R32 motor in there. I highly doubt that, but i want to get a custom wide bodykit anyway so i was just wondering if it was at all possible. thats about it. whatever. please help.

Granted, it would be amazing if you put an R32 engine in an old-school Jetta or GTI, but if you were to do an engine swap, it would probably be more cost-effective if you went with a 12v VR6...still a very good engine.

well first off welcome to the forum, second off stop bashing the new member. Let him say what he wants without being flamed, thats how you loose people not gain them.

A G60 would be great in there, I live in Slc and have a full G60 and tranny if your interested. Other than that ............. pimp the VR6 in it!!!

ALRIGHT! Finally, another New Yorker on this site...
Where you from man?
But anyways back on topic...
A 1.8T would be a great substitution for the 8V and it's a rare swap to do with a MKII...Everybody and their mother does the VR Swap...plus in the long run its a stronger engine than the VR and you'd get more HP/TQ if you pumped the same amount into the VR...plus upgrades for the 1.8t are vast compared to everything else...ABD Racing has an entire webpage dedicated to the 1.8t...
but that's just my $.02

Hey, the Kimmy Son hails from the small town of Hillsdale (probably never heard of it). and thanx for the tip, appreciate it. also anybody know a good exaust system i could get? i've been looking around, but as you know i'm still a newbie and i don't know that much yet. it don't have to be great, just affordable and better than the stock.
-thanx...

Techtonics Tuning has lots of ehxaust systems for your car.
mostly depends what your gonna put into your car, they will have the exhaust for a specific engine swap.
