No, I call that front springs cut to correct a backward rake. One day... I will have a real suspension, I can probably afford a few things for the GL now that the VR6 is gone.

Yeah... the vr is gone... a few reasons why.

1. I hated the handling. The GL handled way better than the vr6, and the gl had cut springs. The VR6 was fast, yes, but wasnt near as fun to drive as the 2.0.

2. The guy I bought it from said the airbags were "deactivated". When the truth is, the airbag computer and half the sensors needed to be replaced (4,500 bucks to get that fixed)

3. The ABS pump is bad. I was slipping and sliding every which direction with wheels that had LOCKED UP. The ABS pump light had been unplugged from behind the dash board.

4. There was an odometer discrepancy... The odom said 79k, when it "should" have over 100k.... Not going to mess with it.

5. My fiance can't drive a stick. This car was going to be my wife's daily driver. I would rather her be focusing on other cars, the road and other people when driving the car instead of worrying about learning to shift and push in the clutch, etc.

6. Local dealership is doing 0% financing for previous VW owners, so I could get a new 2.0T that has a warranty and ZERO miles.

just a few reasons why the car is gone... otherwise I really liked the car.

yea the ABS is very common to go. mine is also bad and i have it unpluged. i like it better. gives you more of a feel for the road and your car. but yea. bad miles, and no airbags. screw that. i would go and kick that guys ass.

Yeah... i took it back to his house, and put it in his driveway... He wanted me to make payments to him, so he financed it... the contracts he used to protect himself also protected me.... I'm in the negative about 300 bucks tho.... Ohhh well... I'm gonna find a new engine for my GL and build it up for a turbo.

That sucks that you are out $300. It's a good thing that you were able to bring it back though. Where did you lose the $300?

I think you should wait till the next year of Jettas come out so that way they have a year to work out the kinks of the MK V...Rule of thumb when buying a car(And i dont think you dont know this bc you ve bought and sold so many of them)--Never ever buy a first year production of a car, even if its a new generation of an existing model...The companies need to run through the kinks of it and then break out a better one the following year...bu tthats just my $.02

I'm willing to put up with the problems to be an early adopter  Besides, warranty will cover all the early problems... Since I made this post, I have decided to buy a new engine and tranny for my GL when the time comes... Instead of buying a new car.... Depending on the wife's reaction, I think I might start saving for an eip turbo system.
