Do not exactly in the 2002, but in the 2004 with the Pumpe Dose and the automatic transmission my baby gives 17Km/l in city with hard driving and up to 21Km/l in highway with the air conditioner at top :)

When the warning light turns on there are 7 liters approx. in the tank according to VW. So you could be driving about 100 Km more, but this could be risky.

According to this, the car gives approx. 1000 Km per tank which means almost 30 working days when I am in my city without going to the station and a very nice non-stopping trip.

I'm not sure about a auto PD, but I know the manual 1.9L TDI's can go about 100 miles or a little bit more before the tank is dry.

Thanks for all the info guys. It seem that i am only getting about 14.5 kil/lit of fuel. I don't drive it hard either. I seem to be running a little rich. What should the idle be on an auto.? 8O

I think a great idea of what they get would be in the 40-45mpg area...... By the way, I got my vr6 up to 30.6mpg babying the throttle for the past week.
