I'm rather disappointed at the hp, but the torque is nice.... this is about 10hp less than I should be putting to the wheels...

I think I am going to get a cam and a chip and see what that does.

theres always next time,.. I would be afraid to put mine on a dyno, kinda like the factory specs, I know mine isn't that any more..lol

Nice torque at least :) I'm sure mine wouldn't do a whole lot better, all I have is an intake.

Yeah.... I should be putting down about 95whp and 120lb ft to the wheels.... Before I learned about proper tuning of 4 stroke engines, I deleted my rear muffler... This killed my backpressure. Since I really havent done anything to the intake side of the engine, I lost back pressure, and therefore some power... If I get the *right* intake system, a 268 or 270 cam, and a GIAC chip, this should fix my intake problem and equalize the flows on each side, which should bump my hp up to 100whp, and torque to 125ish.

well its not bad. not that bad of a drivetrane loss either.

With cams, is it generally better to have a higher degree of travel? I was looking at them and saw 26X, 270, and 276. I imagine with 276 you'd need to have lower compression with an NA or have a SC/TC car to really get it moving over that duration though, right?

I'm still braindead compared to you guys when it comes to the internals, so I'm trying to figure this stuff out.

Well... I have to take out the engine to replace the seal on the intermediate shaft... When I do this, I am going to install new main bearings, then perform a hone and replace the piston rings just to refresh the bottom end... While it's out I'll be doing this:

The current checklist:

1. Underdrive pulley
2. 270* Cam
3. Lightened Lifters
4. GIAC 91 octane chip
5. Oil Windage Tray
6. Mill the head a bit to raise compression.

Mabey:

1. Port the intake manifold to gasket size

pffft, at least your 8v is probably running better than a 17.9 1/4 mile time

All I know is 270,276 are very rough idles, 260 or 266 is better for a street car.

Bah.... go big or go home. I'm gonna run a 270 or it wont even be worth installing a different one to begin with.

Im running a 270 autotech cam. I feel no problems with the idle, and its not even chipped yet. I just quit my job so Im kinda too broke to afford a chip, but soon. I can personally recommend the 270, and from what I hear from taylor, the 260 is great too. IM just running a 270 cuz I dont plan to turbo my car within the next couple years, but thats alright, I plan on saving up and going big.

FTR, it was 84 peak hp and 111 peak torque.... That's cool about the cam btw.

Also ftr, I'm Taylor, the guy with the 260
