You've got the 2.0 right? My 1994 hit 196,000 the other day... I'm close to 200k!!! The 2.0 is a really great reliable motor. I love it. I have had/having some problems with it right now.

1. Clutch is pretty much toast (not the engine's fault)
2. 1 Outter CV joint replaced.
3. 1 Wheel bearing replaced.
4. Leaking (LOTS of) oil out of intermediate shaft seal (have to remove engine to fix this)
5. Low rpm hesitation... Fuel pump or filter... havent checked either.
6. Tranny is starting to make a little noise.

All of this is just typical maint. on a car with this many miles... You have to weight out the factors... I can buy a new jetta and pay 300-350/month... Or I could buy 15 dollars worth of oil each month, and still afford to put 2 or 300 dollars into every quarter. The way I see it, if you keep up on the maint. stuff, the 2.0 will last well over 250-300k.

Yea, I just recently replaced a coolant hose that was leaking, and drained my oil to put a new drain plug in, seemed to solve any of my leaking problems. All in all, I have had no major problems with this motor, I bought it with 105k about a year and a half ago now.

I bought my car in mid march with 182,000... 5 months later it has 196,000  I put about 30k a year on my daily driver. I'd feel so bad having a 4 year old volkswagen with 120k on it :(

Wow... my 84 diesel rabbit barely has 100k miles on it

Runs like a top too, except for the alt and battery issues
