if you do RED LEDS, you cant do the Mod the same as Blue.
As RED LEDS operate on 1.9 to 2.5 Volts...

So if you need help with that, just ask.
oh and that reminds me, i have to post soon step-by step instructions with pics this time of Fixing GTI (90) spoiler brake lights with LEDS

Hey!!!! I really want to do LED conversions on my turn signal lights... I LOVE IT... Jay, you seem very proficient in electronics and crap.... Could you provide some insight on LED turn signal conversion? Would the stock flasher relay work?

You can convert any light to a LED setup.
All you need to do is rip out the bulb and steal the 12V supply from the bulb for use with LED's.

How many do you want to put in?
And what colour?

You feed me that, and i'll tell you how to rig it up

Mr_Diesel
04-05-2004, 12:38 AM
Uhhhh... Amber of course... I dunno it has to be bright enough to pass inspection.

JaY_III
04-06-2004, 02:03 AM
i am thinking use white LED's as the Yellow Casing will filter the color to Amber...

Sound about right to you?
Also, you get the pics i e-mailed you?

Mr_Diesel
04-06-2004, 05:20 PM
Yeah... white LEDS are more expensive eh??? I dunno... Whatever you think. I have stock taillights, so white LED's would work... They have to be REALLY bright, and I'd like to keep it under 10 dollars per light (40 total)... Also, I dunno if this will trigger the fast flash on the flasher relay... Is that just triggered when the connection is severed? (IE: fillament burnt out)...

10 dollars per light ROTFLMAO
$10 USD will get you 50.
If you want really bright, just use a LOT of LEDS.
They draw next to no current, milli amps, so you dont even have to think about causing harm to the circit you tap into.

I order 100 Blue Leds from hong kong for $20 USD shipped.
by them in an electronics store they are up to $5 each

Dude, I saw how did did that little light strip. If I had to do that to like 20 LED's, there is no way it would work... It would get too messy, and I'd probably end up crossing the wires somewhere. What do you suggest i do when I am making a large array from the rear tail lights? you should gimme the info for that hong kong ****, I really could use that... That's my only main worry, is that if I pay 2 bucks each for the brightest LED's that I will blow them up in testing.
